Plans for Season 5 began early this year with a new crowdfunding campaign—and then, of course, COVID-19 hit us like a sack of bricks. Somehow, slowly and steadily, things fell back in place and this July, we are finally ready to raise the curtains on our fifth season of feminist science media! This is the most different and the most meaningful one we have worked on so far. And, we are so excited to announce that it brings with it a brand new website as well as a brand new person on the team. Another first for us is the fact that we have an art director as part of the editorial team for the first time, and so, we look forward to this season being the closest to our audio-visual multimedia dreams.

So what is Season 5 all about? We are focusing on some specific themes, namely – people in the physical sciences, public health, #SciArt, caste and gender identities in science, history and sociology of science, and science education. We are already underway developing these themes into a very cool (even if we say so ourselves) line-up of articles, comics, podcasts, webinars and even a zine!

We have to thank STEMPeers for offering us a grant that allowed us to build this new website for us, and the Wellcome Trust – DBT India Alliance for a grant that pays our contributors a fair sum. We also need to pass on huge thanks to our crowdfunding supporters on Backyourscience.com, as well as Patreon (the campaigns are still ongoing, please continue to lend us your support). Without your help, the core editorial team behind this season would not be getting paid at all.

Stay tuned and if you want to know more and have an hour-odd to spare, then catch up with the team in this sneak-peek webinar where we get into the nitty-gritties of what is to come in this Season.
